I can still text/phone with my iPhone. It isn’t locking.

LifeSaver does’t lock but deters on iPhones since Apple does not permit Apps to lock the device.   For this reason texting and using the phone is still possible,  but a driver’s score will eventually be impacted with ‘Display Violations’ for not keeping the iPhone Passcode lock screen on.    See www.lifesaver-app.com/habits for best practices.

Starting in iOS 11 drivers can enable the iPhone ‘Do not disturb while driving’ feature which compliments LifeSaver and provides a lock screen ‘outside’ the iPhone passcode lock.    This feature also provides an initial ‘stop’ to deter drivers from texting and driving.    However if the driver clicks the iPhone DND while driving button ‘I’m not driving’ to unlock the iPhone this is where LifeSaver will kick in to monitor and score the driver.

The iPhone DND while driving feature is complimentary,  however it is easily gamed and doesn’t not monitor usage or report back to fleet managers or parents as LifeSaver does.
